P Chidambaram, the senior congress leader, on Sunday blamed the Modi Government for its failure to restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir or J&K. The senior congress leader further criticized the Centre’s hard, muscular and militaristic tactic in handling terrorism in the restless state which was far from yielding any positive results but has intensified the problem instead. He quoted the data released by the Ministry of Home Affairs and pointed out that the number of ordinary people and terrorists killed in J&K had almost doubled from 28 to 57 and from 110 to 218 from 2014 to 2017, respectively. He further pointed out that the number of security forces who were killed had also increased up from 47 to 83 in the same period.
The senior congress leader also commented on the appointment of Dineshwar Sharma as the panelist for Kashmir and said the ingenuity was repulsed by various stakeholders in the valley as a pre-poll trick. He further tweeted that on the eve of the election in Gujarat, the government appointed Dineshwar Sharma as special representative, but his decree was not clear. He also said that moreover, it was specified that the SR will talk to anyone who wants to meet him and in that lies the catch. The way onward is to invite all stakeholders for the talks, but, unfortunately, the stakeholders have professed that the appointment of the SR as a pre-election trick and totally snubbed the good person.
Discretely, Kapil Sibal, another Congress leader, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pomposity over Jammu and Kashmir had come at a distance. He further demanded in a tweet that soldiers and policemen are killed almost daily and there is no explanation by the central government about when will they stop to lose their life.
