In the second innings of the second Test match against South Africa in Centurion, India’s all-rounder player Hardik Pandya played a terrible shot and went back to the pavilion. India’s legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev was terribly upset with Hardik Pandya’s performance and criticized him for playing so badly and making such silly mistakes that too on the international level. In the recently concluded Test match, India lost by 135 runs. Kapil Dev condemned Hardik Pandya’s poor performance and his dismissal in the second innings and added that he should not be compared to him the latter keeps on making such silly mistakes.
Hardik Pandya is frequently considered as India’s best all-rounder since the days of the legendary Kapil Dev.
India was struggling at 65 for five when Hardik Pandya came into bat. The fourth innings required chasing a target of 287.
Hardik Pandya was placed at number 6 when he opted for his famous ramp shot and went after a wide ball off Lungi Ngidi, only somehow managing an edge to the wicketkeeper Quinton De Kock.
This is not the first time Hardik Pandya has been committing such sort of a silly mistake. In the first innings as well, Hardik Pandya went back to the pavilion due to his own fault when he forgot to ground his bat. Even then, his extra casual approach was widely criticized by experts.
Kapil Dev says that he has a lot of talent but he only needs to work on his mental aspect.
Former India cricketer Sandeep Patil also didn’t refrain from commenting. He mentioned that comparing Kapil and Pandya was wrong because Pandya is still in the blooming stages of his cricket career. On one hand, Kapil played 15 years for India with terrific performances, on the other hand, Pandya is still in his fifth Test match.
