In a recent statement, Rahul Gandhi, Congress President, has said that in Karnataka assembly election, ruling Congress party will return to the throne again and took another jibe at Prime Minister Modi by asking Prime Minister Modi to take a lesson from Siddaramaiah on how to live up to promises and lead the state. This was after Mr. Gandhi’s three days visit to Karnataka since Saturday, by being a part of Jan Aashirwada Yatra. This Yatra had been organized to reach out to masses as a part of election propaganda for the upcoming election in April–May.
At a rally near Ramdurg, an ecstatic Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress will become triumphant in the legislative assembly election in the state of Karnataka again and regain the throne as the Congress government has lived up to all the promises it has made and has satisfied people’s expectations. He also expressed his confidence in there-election of Congress and in the incumbent CM of Karnataka Siddaramaiah by stating that Siddaramaiah and he will take the state forward after winning the election that is around the corner.
Adding to a series of jibes at PM Modi, Congress President accused Prime Minister of being unsuccessful in upholding promises made in the 2014 Loksabha elections and said that whatever Modi helps only the people like Nirav Modi who fled the country after having scammed Rs 11,000 crore since 2011 from the Mumbai branch of Punjab National Bank. He also went so far as to term Modi as a self-declared “chowkidar” and taunted on the PNB scam by asking if Modi will break his silence and let the nation know how the people who have committed frauds manage to get away while the ‘chowkidar’ silently watches.
During this Yatra, he paid a visit to Renuka Yellamma Hindu temple, Saundatti. Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by Siddaramaiah, G. Parameshwara, K.C. Venugopal, and Mallikarjun Kharge, who are respectively Karnataka Chief Minister, Congress’ state unit president, Congress’ state in-charge and Congress’ opposition leader along with a few other leaders.
