Parvathy, the esteemed actor, on Tuesday complained to the police against the online hackling after she was intimidated on social media for remarking against some dialogues in veteran actor Mammootty’s film. Recently, the Qarib Qarib Singlle actress, Parvathy, had called the dialogues in Kasaba misogynistic. She was thereby cruelly trolled and abused on various online platforms by the expert actor’s fans.
According to the Ernakulam South Police, a case has been registered under sections 507, i.e., criminal intimidation by anonymous communication, section 509, i.e., insulting modesty of women with word, act or gesture of the Indian Penal Code and section 67 of the IT act.
Inspector General, Manoj Abraham, nodal officer of Cyberdome, said in a statement that the actress forwarded a complaint to him and they have started investigation as soon as they received the complaint on this.
The actress, at an open forum that was planned on the sidelines of the recently held International Film Festival of Kerala, voiced her view against the adoring misogyny on screen and also stated concern about the absence of women viewpoint in cinema. Moreover, to prove her point, Parvathy stated that she had recently watched Kasaba.
Nevertheless, even though she did not mention the name of the actor, she said that the film had upset her as it highlighted a great actor telling those misogynistic dialogues. She further said that such kind of dialogues from a superstar like him would give a wrong impression to people.
The Finance Minister, Thomas Isaac, condemning the online attacks had also tweeted that they were disgraceful and praised the actress for making Kerala proud by winning the best actress award at IFFI as she recently bagged the ‘Best Actress’ award in the International Film Festival of India and secured the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress.
