The DJB (Delhi Jal Board) approved on Tuesday a 20% combined hike in sewer and water charges on Delhi, the national capital of India for above 20,000 liters of consumption for about a month.
The Delhi Jal Board also categorically mentions that the domestic consumers like the household people utilizing the water up to 20,000 liters per month will not be charged. The charges are not applicable under the Arvind Kejriwal’s subsidy scheme which was also a part of the key message in his AAP (Aam Aadmi Party), states the personnel.
With the new year setting in, the prices will be revised according to 2018 in February. It is said that after days of Aam Aadmi Party coming into power, the tariff of water was hiked by 10% by the government for the customers marking in the similar category. The AAP Government automated the annual hike of 10% mechanism set in past by the government of Sheila Dikshit in the year 2009.
Dinesh Mohaniya, the vice chairperson of Delhi Jal Board and also the MLA from AAP Sangam Vihar mentions that the hiked percent mechanism will effectively raise the month per month from Rs 28 for users who will be crossing the limit of 20,000 liters of water. The Delhi Jal Board has approved for providing water free of charge for the domestic consumer who will utilize the water up to 20,000 liters. The government further explains that there will be a service charge of about Rs 219.62 for domestic users with water usage from 20,000 to 30,000 liters per month and for 1,000 liters in terms of volume it is 21. 97Rs. The charges for consumers with 30,000 liters per month will be Rs 292.82 as service amount while in terms of volume for 1,000 liters, it will be Rs 36. 61.
