Leh Is The Coldest In Jammu And Kashmir With −15.2°Celsius

The frontier of Jammu and Kashmir, Leh town of the Ladakh region has reported a minus 15.2 degrees Celsius temperature recently. It was said to be the least temperature that was reported in the state on the night of December 30.

The official mentions that the Kokernag town was reported to be at 1.9 degrees Celsius with a slight decrease of 1.5 degrees from Friday night whereas Kupwara town was reported with −42 degree on the night of Saturday. The official further explained that Gulmarg in the north of Kashmir has registered with −5.0 are increased to −6.6 from Friday night.

The ski resort was the only place in north Kashmir to be reported with an increase in temperature from the previous night. Pahalgam, which is popular as the health resort and a camp for the yearly Amarnath Yatra, has been registered with −5.9. The beautiful Kashmir is currently facing the worst period of cold winter months chilllai kalan with an increased changes of snowfall and increase in temperature. It will be ending in the month of January 31 in the coming New Year but the cold continues to stream later.

The 40-day time period of cold months is reported with a small cold period of 20 known as chillai khurd and 10 days of a time period with baby cold known as chillai bachha. The officers of the MeT have examined and forecasted the Kashmir’s dry weather until January 3 after which there will be increased chances of snowfall or rainfall.
