A meeting conducted between the owners of pubs, restaurants or restro-bars and police have concluded to finish the New Year’s Eve by 12 midnight. Apart from the timings, the owners are informed of not letting any person entering the premises with any sort of weapon while banning the entries of stags.
Gupreet Kaur Purewal the ADCP-III (Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police) in a meeting conducted on Friday evening instructed the owners of nearly 50 clubs, restro-bars and restaurants about ensuring the security and safety of the people during the occasion.
The meeting was conducted to instruct the owners on the celebration. The owners were strictly told to ensure to alcohol servicing to be done outside the premises or inside the car of the customers. She further explained that the police should be immediately informed if any person carries a weapon and enters the premises forcefully. The police have strategically planned the home dropping service with the help of taxis to provide concession of tipsy residents making driving back home easier in the drunken mode. She further added that there will be no stag entries allowed while stopping the celebration at midnight 12.
Dhruman Nimbale, the DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) explains that they joined hands with taxi service like Ola and Uber for providing rides at concessional rates. The initiative is in order to reduce the number of mishaps and accidents after the celebrations while preventing drinking and driving. There will be nearly 100 checkpoints with 1,500 police officers for checking drink and drive cases. There will be a special patrolling by the police focusing on areas like Hambran Road, Ludhiana and Ferozepur Road and South City Road with immaculate checking at Ghumar Mandi, Malhar Road and Sarabha Nagar.
