Speaking of creating unique experiences. For “We Used to Wait for It,” a song off their new album, Arcade Fire has created with the help of Chris Milk and “some friends at Google” an interactive video that incorporates shots of your childhood home into an online video installation. (It’s not a music video in the strict sense.)
Generally speaking, what can be learned from this? What is the benefit of creating something as unique as this? It’s unique to the medium. It can’t be copied and pasted or embedded, but it compels people to share it. The author controls the means of distribution, yet it will spread virally. And most importantly, it kept my attention for over 5 minutes!
